What is the purpose of this software?

Every computer connected to Internet has its own unique IP. IP is your Address in Internet but... not only in the web! Using your IP you can be traced even to your own home. The solution for stopping all this compromising of your privacy is to Surf Anonymously. With Hide The IP you will not only hide your real world address but it will prevent hackers from knowing your real IP which will stop eventual attacks.

On how many computers can I install it?

You are allowed to install it on 2 computers (ex: laptop and PC) but you are not allowed to use it simultaneously.

What is "AVRedirector.exe", why is it running?

This is our redirection driver which routes your traffic to our servers and makes your connection secure and anonymous.

How is it working?

When you activate the program, it connects to our servers and gets the most stable, fresh and fast working IP location called proxy. Then the software put that information in your Firefox or Internet Explorer browser. As this procedure is done you can browse with completely concealed identity.

Some "What is my ip" sites shows my real IP?

Probably your browser is set to cache visited pages. Try refreshing/reloading the page (use Ctrl+F5) or clear you browser cache.

Will it slow my internet speed?

Your traffic will be routed and secured through our servers. Thus, you are not accessing Internet directly but through another server (anonymizing server). The anonymizing server is optimized for high speed but you might feel a speed reduction. To access Internet by having a high speed connection read about our Platinum Service Add-On.

How to use the proxy checker?

You can add proxy servers found on the Internet and check their speed and type. When adding servers make sure that they are looking in that style: IP:Port
Ex.: 232.233.12.23:432

What is transparent, anonymous or elite proxy?

* Transparent proxy - A transparent proxy anounces to the world that it's a proxy, and passes on your information. It provides no privacy improvements.

* Anonymous proxy - An anonymous proxy offers the caching benefits of a transparent proxy, while hiding your IP address (by replacing with either the proxies IP, or a random address. The downside to this approach is that sites that use address detection to establish unique users (online games, voting, some logins) will not be able to distinguish you from others in your domain. Of course, that might be a bonus sometimes.

* Elite proxy - A highly anonymous (often known as an elite proxy) makes your system look the same as a non-proxied system (with the proxy servers IP address). This provides the best security. There's no way to detect an elite proxy.

Why is my IP not hidden when I check on "what is my ip sites"?

The installation didn't go as planned. There are few explanations to that issue:

• Browser is caching - Clear your browser cache to ensure you are seeing real pages and not previously cached pages.
• You did not run the installer as Administrator - The software needs to install required drivers in order to function properly. If your windows account is limited, the installator might not be able to install the drivers. To fix the issue log in as Administrator. If you are using Vista, right click on the installation Exe and click on "Run as Administrator".
• Your antivirus software is too restrictive - Our software needs to install a driver. If your antivirus is too restrictive it will forbid this action. Please deactivate the antivirus and reinstall the software.
• Damaged winsock - This is advanced issue but you can easily check if that is the reason. Download the diagnostic tool from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm and send us a screenshot of the result. If you get "No problems found" then winsock is not the reason.
• You might have virus/adware/malware - They might interfere with the normal workflow of our program. Please run a deep scan with your antivirus program.
• Version is outdated - Please reinstall Hide The IP in order to reinstall required drivers.
• Windows is outdated - Please install latest Windows patches.
